Portable Toilet Servicing
Portable toilets should be serviced according to the intensity with which they are used.
Portable Toilets Service Plan
Portable Toilets Should Be Deep Cleaned
Although servicing portable toilets is not difficult, they do require an intense deep cleaning regimen in order to remain hygienic and presentable to patrons.
A regular service schedule should be drawn up, tailor made to each site. Typically, mass gatherings such as outdoor festivals, music events, large funerals etc require more frequent cleaning intervals, often a few times a day as opposed to a greenfields mining operation or remote construction site which can sometimes only be serviced once a week.
The following is a list of items that we pay attention to:
Cleaning
- Portable toilets are made of a durable plastic called HDPE which can be easily sanitised.
- Cleaning of all the interior surfaces is critical so as to avoid the build-up of germs.
- High pressure washers are ideal and therefore used for this purpose connected to a source of germicide or anti bacterial solution.
- While deep cleaning a portable toilet, we pay attention to ensure that nothing is broken, especially handles, locks, paper holders, dispensers etc. This is especially important during and after festivals or events where alcohol has been sold as inebriated patrons are more likely to break things.
- Holding tanks will be pumped and then flushed, following which it will be charged with the required chemicals.
- The toilet tank will then be deodorised by placing deodoriser either in liquid or sachet form.
- Also, all consumables will be restocked including toilet paper, hand sanitises, paper hand towels or soap where applicable as well as air freshener.
- Where dustbins are deployed, these are also emptied.
- Owners of portable toilets should ensure that pumped waste is disposed of correctly and legally.
